Hot Tub Rules & Guidelines

We ask guests with hot-tubs to have consideration for your neighbours and to avoid using hot-tubs after 11:00pm. A warden will patrol the site to enforce this rule.

The use of a hot-tub is associated with muscular relaxation, relief from joint and back pain and reduced feelings of stress. It is usually a pleasurable and relaxing experience. However for your safety and enjoyment there are strict rules and guidelines that must be adhered to when you and your party are using the hot tub. Please read this document and make sure that all members of your party are aware of and strictly adhere to these rules and guidelines. A member of staff may visit your hot-tub up to 3 times a day (depending on usage) to check the water balance and quality. The water balance will be adjusted as necessary and the test results recorded. If they consider that the hot-tub is not being used in accordance with these guidelines or that there is a malfunction, such that it becomes unsafe, they will attach a safety notice to the hot-tub cover and it should not be used. To ensure that you get the best from using
your hot-tub without risk to your party’s health you must adhere to the following safety rules.

Sharing your hot-tub with friends and neighbours. We want you to enjoy your hot-tub but problems can occur with the quality of the water as a result of over use. Your hot-tub is sized for your party so please refrain from inviting others to share its use.

Shower with soap and water before and after using the hot-tub. Showering before will prevent bacteria from entering the hot-tub and showering after will help remove any chemicals or bacteria that linger on your skin, reducing the risk of rashes and infection. Perfumes, hair products and fake tan can seriously contaminate the water.

Use the toilet before entering the hot-tub. It is vital that the hot-tub be kept clean for your own safety. Failure to do so results in the water balance changing which seriously diminishes the effectiveness of the sanitary chemicals. This can lead to nasty microbiological bacteria multiplying rapidly causing a number of serious hazards to users’ health.

Do not over bathe. Limit your time in the hot-tub to 15 minutes and take a rest period. Prolonged immersion in hot water can result in hyperthermia (i.e. a condition where the body absorbs more heat than it can dissipate).

Ensure that someone knows you are in the hot-tub or bathes with you.

Children under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Instruct your children to visit the toilet and to shower both before and after using the hot-tub. Children as well as adults must keep their heads out of the water (especially their mouth and ears) at all times.

Children under 4 must not enter the hot-tub as they cannot regulate their own body temperatures. Extreme caution must be exercised to prevent unauthorised access by under-age children. The hot-tub cover must remain closed at all times unless a responsible adult is present.

Take extra care when entering and exiting the hot-tub. You may become light headed when leaving the hot water and wet surfaces can be slippery, particularly at certain times of the year.

Do not use the hot-tub immediately after a heavy meal. Do not consume food whilst in the hot-tub and if you are having liquid refreshment, use a suitable plastic container, never use glassware or bottles.

Keep the hot-tub covered when not in use. This will conserve energy and more importantly prevent young children from falling /climbing in. If the hot-tub is fitted with a lock, it is your responsibility to ensure that it is kept locked when not in use.

Seek medical advice prior to use if you or a member of your party is pregnant or suffers from any condition that affects the heart, circulation or nervous system. Some medications may cause drowsiness so check with your doctor before using the hot-tub if you are uncertain. Do not use the hot-tub if you have had diarrhoea in the past 14 days or have any infectious skin condition, open wounds or if your skin is particularly sensitive to chemicals.

Do not jump into the hot-tub and do not stand on the hot-tub cover. Any damage to the hot-tub due to misuse will be charged.

Wear appropriate clothing. Remove any hanging jewellery and if your hair is long, put it into a pony-tail or bun.

Never use any corded electrical devices in or near the hot-tub. If you must have one nearby use a battery powered device and place it on a table a safe distance away from the hot-tub.
