We have been awarded the Visit Britain 'We're Good to Go' industry standard in recognition that we have confirmed that we are following Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.
We anticipate that due to continued Government Restrictions and Guidelines regarding the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and social distancing, that some of the facilities may be closed or have limited capacity or opening hours during your holiday. We also anticipate that some of our Activities will be unable to take place or will have reduced capacity. For the latests information please click here.
To comply with Government guidelines we have had to implement some new procedures for the swimming pool.
Swim Session Procedures:
- Sessions are released to book on a rolling 7 day basis by the hour.
- A pre-bookable 50 minute session commences on the hour but this duration includes 10 minutes changing time.
- Sessions will be available from 6.30am until 8pm with the pool closing at 9pm.
- Under 15s must be accompanied by an adult.
- You should arrive for your session promptly and be ‘swim ready’ to maximise your time in the swimming pool.
- If you have not arrived by 10 minutes past the hour you will not be allowed to enter the pool. This rule will be strictly adhered to.
- You will be asked to leave the pool by 40 minutes past the hour so that you have up to 10 minutes to get changed. If you require longer than 10 minutes to get changed then please leave the pool earlier.
- Lockers, changing cubicles and toilets will be available but hairdryers and costume dryers will not be provided.
- The spa area will be closed.
- The changing rooms will be closed promptly at 50 minutes past the hour to allow for cleaning between bathers.
- You are required to book access to the spa area seperately.
Booking a Swim Session:
- The swim session must be booked in the name of the Lead Booker and they will need to provide the Booking Reference Number.
- Please note only ‘Swimming Aids’ will be allowed in the pool. No balls or inflatables are permitted.
- No spectators are allowed poolside or in the viewing area.
To Cancel or Amend a sesion:
To view, amend or cancel your booking please click the ‘View Booking’ button in your email confirmation. You can then amend or cancel your booking by clicking the ‘Ticket Options’ button next to your activity.
Terms & Conditions:
- You are allowed to book enough spaces for the amount of people that are staying in your lodge including any additional babies/infants that are listed on your booking. These details will be checked when your booking is received.
- You are allowed to pre-book up to 2 swim session for every short break (mid-week or weekend) and up to 4 sessions for every week long break. You can pre-book sessions from 2pm on your arrival day up to 11am on your departure day. Please note your check-in and check-out times when booking for arrival and departure days and remember that changing facilities will be limited.
- Staff members will verify that you have not pre-booked more sessions than allowed or booked more places than your lodge occupancy. If you have not complied with the above T&Cs then all your sessions will be cancelled.
- At 7am each day, guests will be allowed to pre-book an additional session if there is space available. You can only book a same day session if you do not already have a session booked for that day.
- If your preferred session is full, you can join the waiting list. This does not guarantee you a space but it will notify you by email that a space has become available.
Little Monkeys Play Centre
Little Monkeys Play Centre at Landal Darwin Forest will remain closed until step 4 in the roadmap when the Government hopes to be in a position to remove all legal limits on social contact. This is now scheduled to be no earlier than the 19th July.
Although, soft play centres were allowed to reopen in step 3 of the roadmap, many have remained closed due to the operating guidelines and restrictions that are still in place. As a business we want nothing more than to reopen the centre but we also want to keep our customers safe.
The guidance we are following has a number of social distancing measures in place including operating a one way system around the play equipment. Unfortunately, the nature of our play frame means that we cannot operate an effective one way system. As part of the one way system you must also have a single entry and exit point onto the equipment which again is not practicable on our play frame. All loose items such as balls and blocks also need to be removed.
Smaller areas such as the toddler play area in Little Monkeys or the complimentary pre-school soft play area in the Activity Den also need to operate a one way system. Any loose soft play items such as building blocks must be removed and ball pits must be closed. As these items form the vast majority of the toddler and pre-school areas they would not be able to open.
As a family business we pride ourselves on ‘delighting every guest so they wish to return.’ We appreciate that the decision to keep the indoor play areas closed may affect the experience of some holiday makers and we do not want any guest to arrive on holiday and be disappointed. We therefore want to reiterate our ‘Book with Confidence promise.’ If you are due to come on holiday with us and feel that the indoor play areas remaining closed will be detrimental to your holiday experience, you are able to cancel your holiday before your arrival and receive a refund.
We will review reopening the indoor play areas from the 19th July but please note we will only reopen once social distancing measured are eased and the current guidelines regarding the operating of indoor play centres is relaxed.

Use of the swimming pool and the small soft play area in the Activity Den are complimentary, but additional charges are made for other facilities as follows:
Little Monkeys Play Centre is £4.50 Mon-Fri & £5.50 weekends per child (£3.50 for guests staying on the park).
Spa Session (Including sauna, steam, jacuzzi and feature showers) and the gym is £4.00 per session or £6 for gym and spa.
Mini Golf - £2 adults & £1.50 children.
Tennis Court - £4 per hour. Short Tennis is £2/hour.
Bikes - £7 half day and £12 all day.

Yes, we recommend that you book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. Please note that if you are part of a large group we advise that you book tables at the restaurant in advance to ensure that you can be catered for together. You also need to pre-book afternoon tea.
Please also be aware that all our food is freshly cooked to order using locally sourced fresh ingredients and there may be a wait whilst our chefs are preparing your meal.

At Landal Darwin Forest we are able to offer a limited Takeaway service from the Foresters bar & restaurant but this service may be unavailable during peak times when the kitchen is busy preparing food for restaurant diners.

Yes, we work with a number of fantastic local attractions to sell discounted tickets to our guests. These include Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom, Alton Towers and Crich Tramway Museum.
All discounts are automatically applied to the price shown when you check availability. However if you have stayed 3 or more times in the past 5 years you are eligible for a loyalty discount which can only be obtained by making your booking by calling Reception on 01629 732428.

Yes, customers who have booked direct with the park on 3 or more occasions will receive a 5% discount.
However, to welcome you back after the closure and give you something to look forward to, we have increased the discount our loyal customers will receive for holidays booked with a 2021 arrival date. You will now receive 10% off your holiday as a thank you for your support of our family business over the years. Please put LOYALTY10 in the special offer code box on the website or in the subject header is booking via firstname.lastname@example.org.
To receive the loyalty discount you must have made 3 or more direct bookings over the past 5 years. If you use the code and you are ineligible then the discount will be removed and/or the holiday cancelled. This is a new offer and cannot be applied to existing bookings. It can only be used to book one lodge per arrival date. The offer can be withdrawn at any time.
We offer short breaks from Monday - Friday (4 nights), Friday - Monday (3 nights) or 7, 10 or 14 nights.
2 night breaks may be available very last minute but these can only be booked by calling Reception.
We do not offer 1 night stays.
A deposit of 20% is payable at the time of booking if your holiday has an arrival date of more than 10 weeks away.

Your lodge should be ready from 4pm but in this current climate it is not guaranteed. On the day of arrival we ask that you do not arrive onsite until after 2pm unless you have pre-booked the facilities or activities onsite. You can find out more about the facilities on our website. Your lodge should be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. The Glade Exclusive and Spinney Exclusive Spa lodges benefit from an early 2pm check-in.
Please note that if a fault has been found in your lodge during the change over day your check-in time may be delayed. Due to the Government Guidelines regarding social distancing our maintenance teams and housekeeping teams will not be allowed in the lodge at the same time. This means that any work required will take longer than usual and this could delay your check-in time. If you are affected by a late check-in because of this, please be understanding with our staff as the Health and Safety of guests and staff must always be our priority.

Yes, if you book direct you can choose which lodge number or area of the park you stay in. This is subject to availability. Please telephone Reception on 01629 732428.
Yes. All lodges have two car parking spaces. Additional vehicles should be left in the main car park.
Just one pet is normally allowed to stay in a lodge, although two small ones may be allowed by arrangement. Some lodges are kept pet free. Please check before you book. Pets are charged at £30 per short break and £45 per week. The Coppice Spa and Spinney Spa lodges are especially designed with pets in mind and they accept two dogs.
There is plenty of woodland in which to walk dogs, but please keep them on a lead at all times and clean up any fouling. Special bins are provided by the woodland walk.
At Landal Darwin Forest, we have been battling away with the mobile phone companies to improve coverage for many years. As things stand coverage is poor across the park - the best possibility for a signal is close to the entrance. There are public payphones and free Wi-Fi is provided in each lodge, Reception and the main facility buildings. We recommend that you use What's App, Messenger or email to keep in touch whilst you are staying on the park. Many people use What's App to make calls or use Wi-Fi Calling if your device is set up to use this facility.
We are happy to provide free Wi-Fi and we have a capacity that is considered sufficient to cater for reasonable use by our guests.
All lodges have Wi-Fi access which should provide a suitable connection for every lodge. This is a complimentary service to provide internet browsing for leisure purposes. This is normally a reliable service but being a free shared connection across the park, we can’t guarantee the levels of service, availability, quality or bandwidth etc for individual lodges. You may not get as fast a connection as you get at home as many people may be sharing the connection simultaneously.
Please note that our Wi-Fi distribution system requires a user to register. This is completed via a device’s web browser and as such has proven to work well with computers, tablet and mobile phones. Certain devices including internet enabled games consoles do not facilitate a Wi-Fi connection in this recognised manner and are therefore not compatible with the park’s Wi-Fi network.
Using a games console or watching on-demand TV
High bandwidth downloads are restricted via the general Wi-Fi to maintain the overall quality of the service provided.
If you would like to use an internet enabled games console or connect to a laptop to download or stream, you will need to connect to the lodge router using an Ethernet cable and connect a HDMI cable from your device to the TV. If you do not have access to these cables we have a limited number available to hire from reception for a £10 refundable deposit per cable. By connecting to the internet in this manner you should be able to access Netflix and other on-demand TV services. Unfortunately, Amazon Firesticks or similar USB dongles are not compatible.
The majority of the Wi-Fi connection problems our guests experience relate to the setup of the individual’s devices, rather than the quality of the Wi-Fi connection we provide. Please contact reception if you experience significant problems and one of our maintenance team will try and assist you. Please note that you should only be required to register once. All bed linen and towels are provided, with the exception of linen for cots. Beds are made up for your arrival. You may wish to provide additional towels for use in the swimming pool or if you have a Spa lodge. We provide washing-up liquid and a dish-washing cloth (as well as dishwasher tablets where appropriate). Irons and hairdryers are also provided. A selection of the latest films can be rented on DVD.
Plastic cups and cutlery are available in the Glade Exclusive, Spinney Exclusive, Spinney Spa Coppice Spa and Meadow Spa lodges. However, we are happy to provide plastic cups on request to other lodges. Please ask reception.
On the 'Lodges' page, a description of each bath/shower room configuration is given. Most baths have showers over them to provide greater flexibility.
Yes, cots and high chairs can be hired for £9 per short break and £12 per week.
Please note that cots and highchairs must be ordered in advance and not all of the bedrooms in your chosen lodge type may be large enough to accommodate cots. Our cots measurements are 120cm x 60cm. We would only recommend having one cot per room in most instances, although some bedrooms in specific lodge types will accommodate two. If you require two cots in one bedroom you must check whether this is possible with Reception prior to arrival. Please note that having a cot in any of the rooms will restrict access to beds, drawers and wardrobes.
Please be aware that cots are only suitable for children under 2 and you are required to bring your own cot bedding.
Yes, BBQs are available to hire from Reception for a £10 refundable deposit. Please note that you are not allowed to bring your own BBQ or firepit.
Landal Darwin Forest has its own Woodland Store where you can select from a wide range of essential groceries and gifts. The Woodland Store stocks a range of local produce including milk from the local dairy, meat from the local award winning butchers and freshly baked bread.
There is also a Sainsburys in Matlock, a Tesco and Aldi in Alfreton and a Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Aldi in Chesterfield. Please contact Reception for your lodge number should you wish to have your groceries delivered. Please state your lodge number and the name the booking was made under on the delivery details. If you are booking a delivery for the day of arrival please specify a delivery time of between 5pm and 7.45pm.
All 3 and 4 bedroom lodges include a washing maachine. All Glade Exclusive Spa, Spinney Exclusive Spa, Spinney Spa, Coppice Spa and Meadow Spa lodges include a washing machine regardless of size. Irons and ironing boards are provided for guests in all lodges. There is also a small laundry for guests to use.
Unfortunately there is no public transport to Landal Darwin Forest and we advise that you will need a car to get around the Peak District. The nearest train and bus stations are in Matlock and Chesterfield.
There are several airports surrounding the Peak District. The two larger airports are Manchester (45 miles away/Approx 85 minutes drive) and Birmingham (65 miles away/Approx 75 minutes drive). The area is also served by East Midlands Airport (40 miles away/Approx 55 minutes drive) and Doncaster Robin Hood Airport (40 miles away/Approx 60 minutes drive).
The nearest ferry terminal to Europe is at Hull (90 miles away/Approx 100 minutes drive).
