In the Peaks
The Peak District hosts a number of exciting events throughout the year. Local attractions such as the Heights of Abraham and Crich Tramway Museum host special events during the school holidays and the Chatsworth Estate a range of events throughout the year. There are also country fairs, food festivals, markets and Christmas themed evets to enjoy. We list events that are happening in the next couple of weeks below, but please ask reception if you have any questions.
Below are a number of events that are happening in the local area.
Leap Day Mayhem
Join in the fun for the last day of February to bid farewell to winter and welcome spring – on a day that only happens once every four years!
It’s FREE access to the site where there will be performances from Black Pig Border Morris and their band of musicians throughout the day.
There will also be roaming circus performers from Circus Wunderbar entertaining with a range of tricks and skills.
AND the Crags will be hosting Battleaxe Sheffield’s mobile axe throwing unit. For a small charge, you can have a go at throwing an axe!
PLUS – cave tours will run as usual, the café will be serving delicious treats, you can have a wonderful walk around the gorge, and discover more about the history of the site in the museum.
Great British Dog Walk
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People are bringing the Great British Dog Walk to the beautiful surroundings of Carsington Water in Derbyshire. This is a family and dog friendly event and everyone is welcome.
This is a Great British Dog Walk with a difference – the long walk is much longer than other walks taking place around the UK but we would love for you to join us for this challenge.

Join Paul for an insightful talk about the night's sky, before heading out into the evening, to look through telescopes at the constellations (weather permitting – the event will still go ahead in cloudy weather but the possibilities for stargazing will obviously be reduced).
Visit Hopton Hall’s beautiful Snowdrop Walk, wander through the woodlands and marvel at the first signs of Derbyshire spring
