Attractions include the Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath which is a truly unique experience as you take a cable car ride high above the Derwent Valley and Crich Tramway museum which has over 60 trams to ride and admire and is set within a period village. There are also numerous National Trust properties close by and the magnificent Chatsworth House. If you fancy a thrill seeking day out then Alton Towers which includes CBeebies Land and Splash Landings and Gulliver's Kingdom are also close by.

    Carsington Water

    Carsington Water is located between Matlock and Ashbourne and provides a great family day out with cycle trails, picnic area and an adventure playground. You can also take to the water and go sailing, windsurfing, kayaking or fishing.

      Castleton Caverns

      There are a number of caverns to explore in the picturesque village of Castleton including the Blue John Cavern which is home to an extremely rare and beautiful stone, Peak Cavern (known as Devil's Arse) and Speedwell Cavern, which includes an underground boat ride.

            Cromford Canal and Arkwight Mills

            Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mills and the Cromford Canal were at the heart of the industrial revolution. The canal provides a pleasant walk or canal boat ride whilst at the mills you can explore the heritage of the site as well as visit numerous shops and attractions.

              Ecclesbourne Valley Railway

              The Ecclesbourne Valley is one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys, stretching from the northern outskirts of Derby, at Duffield, to Wirksworth, an ancient market town known as the Gem of the Peak. Take a steam train back in time on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway

                Eyam Plague Museum

                In 1665 a tailor ordered cloth from London and unwittingly triggered a chain of events that led to 260 Eyam villagers dying from the bubonic plague – double the mortality rate of London. At Eyam Plague Museum you can learn about the sacrifice the villages made to prevent the disease spreading.
