Which film and TV sets can I visit in Derbyshire and the Peak District?
From Hollywood blockbusters like Mission Impossible to timeless classics like Jane Eyre, Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park have been the backdrop to many movies and TV programmes.
Notable Movies filmed in Derbyshire and the Peak District include:
- Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (Movie). This new 2026 movie starring Cillian Murphy was filmed at the National Trust property Calke Abbey. Many areas of the house and stables remain largely unrestored, so it was the perfect backdrop for the feature film. Filming took place inside the house in various rooms as well as in the stables (which is heavily featured in the promotional trailer), at middle lodge and in the surrounding parkland.
- The Princess Bride (Movie). This iconic Rob Reiner movie starring Carey Elwes and Robin Wright used many locations in Derbyshire including Haddon Hall for both the interior and exterior of Prince Humperdinck’s castle, Robin Hood's Stride for Westley and Fezzik duel, Lathkill Dale for the "Battle of Wits" scene, Cave Dale for the "Cliffs of Insanity" and Bradley Rocks as Buttercup's farm.

- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Movie). The 2010 movie used the National Trust’s Hardwick Hall as the setting for the family home of Harry Potter's nemesis Draco Malfoy of Slytherin House. The Hall’s exterior, with its distinctive towers and large windows, was filmed by helicopter and used to represent the dark and sinister Malfoy Manor.
