What are the benefits of Forest Bathing?

At Darwin Forest you can surround yourself with the healing power of the forest and take part in Forest Bathing. The practice originated in Japan in the 1980s and is known as Shinrin yoku.  It is the simple and therapeutic act of spending time in a forest, being quiet and calm, observing nature, breathing deeply and reconnecting with yourself. The practice is actively prescribed by medical practitioners in Japan.

Research has demonstrated that two hours of mindful exploration in a forest could reduce blood pressure, lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol and improve concentration and memory.

Accordingh to Stanford University, “Some people who experience anxiety find that forest bathing calms their nervous system because their attention shifts from their worries to noticing the natural elements all around them—and these results are scientifically measurable.”
